Our Story

Hello Friends, for those of you who don’t know I will start by introducing ourselves. My name is Melissa (27 years old) my husband is Tyler (29 years old), we have two kids our son Mason (9 years old) and our daughter Charlotte who only really goes by Charley (6 years old) and we homeschool both of them. Tyler and I are highschool sweethearts, and if you can do easy math we obviously had a surprise in my last year of highschool named Mason haha. He is the best thing that could have ever happened to us. Fast forwarding we got married in December 2011, had our daughter Charley in 2013, bought our first home in 2014, we flipped it, sold and bought our next house in 2016. We have lived in this second house now for over two years and have renovated it top to bottom once again, and when we bought this house it was meant to be our forever home. Now getting to what i’m really writing about is what we have in store this year!!!!

!!!!!!!!! WE HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT !!!!!!!!!!

We are selling our house and moving into a fifth wheel travel trailer!!! It is a 2014 Open Range 427BHS model and we love it. We decided two months ago that this is going to be a really fun and exciting adventure and best decision for our family.

We will be selling our house and renovating our trailer home to make it our dream home but  trailer size! Obviously this takes quite a bit of prep work and planning going from a 2500 sq ft house to a travel trailer. Over the last couple months we have been going through our house and getting rid of furniture, kitchen dishes, toys, home decor and that will continue until we are left with just the stuff we will be bringing into the trailer. As of right now we don’t have plans to be back in a ‘normal’ house. Our plan for the next few years is just living in the trailer and traveling. However we will investing in a piece of land with some acreage and a house on it that we will either rent or air bnb out (depends on the house when we find it). We will make a spot on the property our ‘home base’ with a nice deck for when we are in the area taking care of business. But for the most part we will be TRAVELING and I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!!! We have plans to go all across canada and the states.

WHY you may ask… Neither tyler or I had the ‘ideal’ situation growing up (who really does), we created this picture perfect, cookie cutter image of what we HAD to have when we grew up (the ‘normal’ or ‘typical’ life with a family). When we were teenagers talking about our perfect life with a white picket fence, golden retriever and our kids running around in the yard we both got so excited because we thought… this is normal… this is what I have to give my kids!! We are here… right now… with the perfect house… the perfect yard with a pool and a perfect treehouse… our goldendoodle… our kids… alright no white picket fence but the house is white haha!! But a couple months ago we just talked and said ‘this is not worth it’. We realized the kids don’t care at all about what house we live in or about our ‘picture perfect’ image we thought we had to give them for them to grow up properly. They care about spending time with mom and dad. And we weren’t giving them as much time as they were wanting or needing. The last ten years we’ve been so fixated on getting to this ‘perfect’ spot, but it has come at a cost. Planning out the next 10 years we wanted to capitalize on the time we have left with our kids while they are still young. By downsizing and investing in a rental property this is what gives us time with our kids, time with each other, time to grow as a family and be close. The more time Tyler and I spend together the happier we are together and the smoother we run as a family. At the end of a week long vacation we are the happiest and most relaxed. But it takes us a week to get there so we have a couple good days and then back to reality and Tyler working 5 days a week and this big house to maintain, does not leave much time for quality family time… so we fall right back into being stressed out and getting by each day. We are not oblivious to the fact of moving into a trailer will be an adjustment or hard at times, but it's a small sacrifice to make in order to spend time as a family, we wanted to make more memories instead of more money.

Obviously selling everything and living tiny is not a choice for everyone and a lot of people may not understand or agree with it. But we don’t need you too, we are just sharing our thoughts, feelings and experiences by chance it helps or inspires someone to do what they really want in there life. We hope you follow along with us on this exciting journey while we have a lot of adventures a head. If you have any questions please feel free to send us a message or leave a comment :)
